About Mike Rainone

Mike Rainone

PCDworks Founder and Vice President

Regarded as an expert in the field of innovation, Mike Rainone has a broad knowledge of emerging technologies and a relentless approach to problem solving. This combination makes him a catalyst for innovation, and perhaps PCDWorks greatest asset.

The former university professor is a doctor of philosophy, holds master’s degrees in both psychology and architecture, and is well versed in industrial design. He has taught subjects as diverse as management and organizational behavior, research methods, architecture, and product design and development at the University of Texas, Kent State University, University of Texas at San Antonio and the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit.

Mike attributes much of his success to this unusual pedigree. Trained as a psychologist to “keep digging” for an answer, Rainone has applied that same technique to problem solving and has a reputation for cracking the code on difficult technology issues.

He currently leads ideation and product development workshops at the PCD campus and is the creative force in new product development. His work includes clients as diverse as Sunbeam, Kellogg’s, Avery Denison, Ingersoll-Rand and Kimberly Clark. He is co-inventor of a lashing system developed for the U.S. Navy, and holds patents for a non-laser based bar code reader for Telxon Corporation, a stabilized ironing board for Seymour Corporation, and a vacuum assisted drainage system for cardiopulmonary bypass surgery.
